Shopify ABC Analysis Report

In e-commerce, not all products are created equal. Some products fuel your profits, while others eat up valuable resources without contributing significantly to your bottom line. To scale your Shopify store efficiently, knowing where to focus is key.

The ABC Analysis Report divides your products into three crucial categories, each designed to give you a clear picture of your sales performance:

  • A-Grade (Top 80%): High-impact products that drive most of your revenue.
  • B-Grade (Next 15%): Steady performers that generate moderate sales.
  • C-Grade (Final 5%): Low performers that offer minimal returns.

By using this analysis, you’ll focus on the products that matter, optimize the underperforming ones, and cut down on stock that isn't moving.

Common fields available in this Report

  • Variant ID: The unique numeric identifier for the  product variant
  • Product Title: Name of the product
  • Variant Title: The title of the product variant
  • SKU: Unique product identifier in the store.
  • Total Units Sold: Total units sold for the selected order
  • Grade: It is a rank given to the product based on sales

How to Use ABC Analysis Report for Shopify Stores

  1. Variant-Level Performance

A product may have multiple variants, but not all perform equally. Some may sell well due to color, size, or other factors, while others lag. With a variant-level breakdown, you gain insights into which specific variants drive revenue. The grading system (A, B, C) simplifies this analysis, helping you focus on the best-performing options.

  1. Identify Inventory & Top-Performing Products

No need to switch between different reports for best-sellers and inventory tracking—everything is in one place. The Total Units Sold field highlights top-selling products, while the Inventory Quantity field shows available stock. This allows you to see what’s performing well and ensure key products are always in stock.

For example, if 10 products fall under Grade A, meaning they generate most of your revenue, this report quickly identifies them and tracks on what needs to be restocked.

  1. Real-Time Data: Respond Faster to Market Changes

Stop waiting for system updates—Shopify updates inventory data at 12 AM daily. With our report, you can access real-time sales and inventory data anytime, allowing you to react quickly to shifts in demand. Whether restocking fast-selling items, adjusting pricing, or preparing for peak sales, real-time insights help keep your business efficient and responsive.

  1. Track Inventory Across Multiple Locations

Add location fields to track inventory availability across multiple locations. This ensures best-selling products are always in stock while preventing overstock of slow-moving items. Analyzing past sales trends allows for better demand forecasting and optimized restocking to avoid shortages and excess stock.

Customizing the Report Further

Adapt reports to fit your business goals by using manual and smart collection fields in ABC Analysis. Whether tracking seasonal trends, comparing product variations, or analyzing sales across multiple brands, customization helps you focus on the data that matters.

By default, Shopify provides Insights only into certain levels on your product, inventory quantity and cost of products.. However, you can use our reports to  add multiple fields with no limitations, even pulling additional data via API. Some users have requested custom data, such as metafields, which we have added to the report for unique analysis

Additionally, beyond Shopify’s one-month data limit, you can track long-term sales trends, compare past performance, and refine pricing and discount strategies.

Conclusion

ABC Analysis Reports help you identify top-performing products, optimize inventory, and reduce slow-moving stock. With real-time insights and customization options, you get a complete view of sales, product performance and stock in one place, making product listing and inventory management more efficient.
